The New Bolsover Model Village Regeneration Project

New Bolsover Model Village (NBMV), which was built by the Bolsover Colliery Company in 1891 to accommodate its workforce, is a lasting legacy to the coal mining industry which dominated life in the town until 1993. The New Bolsover Village Regeneration Project project focuses on carrying out essential house repairs, restoring original architectural features (including windows) and where appropriate providing additional thermal insulation to the 194 properties in the village. The project has been funded by approximately £8million from Bolsover District Council’s Housing Revenue Account, £1.9 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund and £40k from Derbyshire County Council.

Our Role

CVP is a key partner within the project. We help to build community capacity, upskill residents and provide sustainability in New Bolsover Model Village. Since the 3 year project began, CVP have worked alongside the community by engaging with residents, recruiting and developing volunteers, and supporting the community to form a vision for the future. We have formed partnerships with local organisations, and supported the beginning of new groups and projects which are resident led.
